Roma European Union Romani Evropaki Unija JEKHIPE

ABOUT US
The Romani European Union (REU) – JEKHIPE is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the rights, integration, and social status of Roma across Europe. Founded in late 2020 and officially registered in early 2021 in Belgium, REU-JEKHIPE is a network that brings together Roma from various European countries, including Serbia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, Slovenia, Austria, and Italy.
Our mission is to empower Romani communities through education, legal support, and active participation in social processes. We place a strong focus on combating discrimination and racism and promoting social inclusion to ensure that Roma become equal members of the society in which they live.
As an organization with 33% of its membership composed of Romani women, we have a strong gender focus. We are committed to the rights and empowerment of women within the Romani community, providing them with opportunities to have their voices heard and recognized.
Through partnerships with international and local organizations, governments, and institutions, we work to improve access to education, employment, healthcare, and basic human rights for Roma. Our goal is to create a fairer society that recognizes and respects the cultural diversity of the Romani community as an integral part of the European identity.
Today, REU-JEKHIPE actively organizes events, campaigns, and projects across Europe, promoting a positive image of Roma and raising awareness about their rights and rich cultural heritage. We are working together to create a better and more equal future for all Roma in Europe.
